Finished Exterior Paint

The exterior paint guys finished up last Friday, and I finally had an opportunity to get some pictures of the finished product last night. We could not be happier with how this turned out, and I am so thankful this is something we didn’t try to DIY. We considered it, and I know we could have handled the project, but when I think of the months and months of work this would have been I think it was 100% worth it to pay someone else to do it. Besides, at this rate it may be August before we can call the kitchen 100% done, and who wants to take on another large project after that? To refresh your memory here are the before pictures of the house are here.

And here is the finished back patio area. We installed this ceiling fan about 4 years ago when we just started dating and I didn’t even live here. I’m pretty sure we haven’t touched it since. And now, with the nice new paint the ceiling fan looks like crap and definitely needs a good scrubbing.

Exterior Paint, Part 5

Or, the second to last post about exterior paint. Late last week the painters finished priming the outside of the house and it was amazing the difference just the coat of primer made. Here are a few pictures of the difference.

The painters actually finished up late last night, but I am waiting for the stormy weather to pass so I can get some good pictures of the results.

Exterior Paint, Part 3

On Friday the painters came and replaced the rotted wood on the exterior of the house in preparation for the power washers. There actually wasn’t as much rotted wood as I had thought there would be. We knew the bottoms of the back columns needed fixing:

The gables were replaced:

Some of the wood around the garage was replaced:

And lastly a few trim pieces in the back under the roof were replaced as well:

The power washing is going on right now, pictures to come.

Exterior House Paint, Part 2

I took advantage of the sunny weather last weekend to take some more pictures of the exterior of the house that needs to be painted before it is cleaned up. I wanted to really show all of the problems we have going on out there. The painters are starting carpentry work today on the rotted wood and barring any weather delays should be done by Wednesday!

We have mildew/mold everywhere:

The garage door is peeling:

Wood is rotted:

And the shutters are rotted and/or peeling. Although we are not having the painters fix these because we’re not 100% sure the direction we want to go with them and shutters can be fairly inexpensive. We will deal with them after the paint is done.
